My attitude to cameras has always been if yoiu are daft enough to speed in the first place, then you deserve a ticket. Most of the time there is no real need to speed. I may have to adjust that !
However in this case I only have my own stupidity to blame
On the A605, in northhampton, I saw the Camera van, looked at the road, and all the other cars, which were all doing 50 MPH , so continued to do 50 MPH myself,
BIG MISTAKE, it was a 40 Zone !!!

There are many, many places where the limits are wrong. Maybe not so much near you (definitely not last time I was there), but here there are many 30 limit roads that were 60 a few years ago, and they’re safe at more than 30.
I probably spend 80 or 90 % of my time driving above the speed limit. BUT if there’s reason to (ice, fog, children), I might drop well below it.
The only time I’ve been pulled and ticketed was over 10 years ago. Even then, it was safe. 72 on the 50mph Aston Expressway. With no-one else on it.
Again, maybe not near you. But near here limits are ridiculous. My favourite is a road that used to have a 60 limit. Some arsehole comes down it at 80- a safe speed would be about 50- and lands his XR3i on it’s roof, killing his girlfriend. The limit is now 30 mph. Go figure.

That thought did cross my mind on the A605 in northhampton, 60 for most of is and then 40 MPH sections for no apparent reason
Oh and the main road past my dads place is a 20 zone , for no other reason that to make it slower than the “A” road 300 yards away !
