Gloucester has a useful place called ShopMobility from where anyone who is less mobile than they would like to be, can borrow an electric scooter device to propel them around the town a great speed (well over twice the average walking pace)
However add one manic grey haired witch to the mix and you have a lethal weapon
If you or I were to cycle or skateboard through the pedestrian area in central Gloucester I am fairly sure a local copper or traffic warden would soon be having words
However these Electric scooters are allowed to scream up and down, significantly faster than walking pace, weaving in and out of those who have chosen to walk…. including young children, visually or hearing impaired individuals (who may not be able to notice the missile which is approaching them), not to mention less mobile people who chose to use a stick or frame.
One day someone is going to get seriously injured or killed by one of these Scooters
I bet they Don???t drive their cars like that…….
I would just like to add that the is also a significant number of users who do drive these scooters carefully !!
