Continuing on from Arthur Daly Lives
Well it goes like this,
I brough the Car on the understanding it came with a 12 month, ??1000 limit per claim warranty….
I did the second hand car purchase by the book, HPI, verify FSH etc etc, but from what i have been able to work out the car had sat aroudn in a yard for 6 months doing nohting between being traded in by the previous owner and being purchased by me. Mechanical part dont like that much, so since i have had the car it has been plagued by a series of minor issues.
Fan belt idle pully bearing failed
Oil pressure switch filed electrically open
The Exchaust flexible coupling broke
all of which i repaired at my expense, thinking i would save the warranty for someting worth while..
So next comes the Viscous coupling for the engine cooling fan. add a traffic jam to the mix and you have one over heating car, which then resulted in a blown head gasket, Bugger, Bugger, Bugger, Bugger, Bugger…..
so call up the warranty company, they arrange for the repair, now this is were it gets interesting
they will pay for the fan, or the head gasket, but nor both, if we admit the fan failure caused the gasket failure….. so we plump to not mentioning the viscouis coupling..
the garage phone the warranty company with a qoute to which they reply, “we will pay for upto ??300” , WHAT, HELLO, it is a ??1000 policy. Ah no it was not, Mr Daly for want for a better name of Specialist Cars of Gloucester had filled in the form wrong.
So back to the slimy git we go…….
after two weeks of calling him every other day and and being fobbed off with it is being dealt with by the warranty compnay, I finaly get hold of the local Rep, one Tony Palmer , very nice guy, who explained he was waiting to say “Mr Daly” to collect the correct premium for the policy, at which piont it would all be sorted.
well 3 weeks after the initally taking my car to the garage, I am due to get it back tomorrow…..
