Had a call from my dad this morning, “my computer is tits up, switched it on this morning and it went BANG !”
He is an electrical heating engineer, so is no stranger to pulling electrical stuff apart, and replacing a few bit and bobs
Told him where to buy a NEW PSU (not PCWorld, glouester has a little shop with Good prices for such things)
90 minutes later, he calls back to say ??18 quid later his computer is now working again !!!
Horray !!!!!!!!!!!

I have just been to the scotish records office in Edinburgh, to help the wife lookup her family tree
I was horrified to dicsover ANYONE can pay as little as TEN quid and lookup the official birth , death of marrage record for ANYONE in Scotland using??a computerised system and then transcribe the details to a notepad or to your family tree software on you laptop, which they will even allow you to plug into the mains
In 3 hours yoiu could look up a hundred or so names and their mothers maiden names, place of birth etc??etc
For my Wife this was great, she managed to trace her family back to the 15th Century in less than one day
but the implications??for ID theft??are scary !!!!!!

Gloucester has a new 99p store, “a whole lot more and a penny change” or so the sign says. Sure enough some good stuff, so stocked up on some bits and pieces and saved a few bob 🙂
As we were leaving the mother-in-law says “any one fancy a coffee”
